Germany and Denmark name UEFA Women's EURO squads

Germany and Denmark to each play a group fixture at Stadium MK...

Germany and Denmark, who each play a UEFA Women’s EURO group match at Stadium MK, have announced their squads for next month’s tournament.

Germany and Denmark are both in Group B alongside Finland and Spain and each will play a group-stage fixture at the home of MK Dons. Germany will face Finland in on Saturday 16 July while Denmark will face the Fins a few days earlier on Tuesday 12 July.

Germany, eight-time winners of the tournament, will head to the Euros as one of the favourites, though they will be without two key players in midfielders Dzsenifer Marozsan and Chelsea's Melanie Leupolz. Selina Cerci will also miss out due to an ACL injury.

Denmark, meanwhile, have one of the game’s best players in Chelsea's Pernille Harder, who is the team captain and all-time top goalscorer for her country. Experienced forward Nadia Nadim has also made the cut after returning from an ACL injury.

Germany 23-player squad in full:
Goalkeepers: Merle Frohms (Eintracht Frankfurt), Almuth Schult (Wolfsburg), Ann-Katrin Berger (Chelsea).

Defenders: Sophia Kleinherne (Eintracht Frankfurt), Kathrin Hendrich (Wolfsburg), Marina Hegering (Bayern Munich), Giulia Gwinn (Bayern Munich), Felicitas Rauch (Wolfsburg), Sara Doorsoun (Eintracht Frankfurt).

Midfielders: Lena Lattwein (Wolfsburg), Lena Oberdorf (Wolfsburg), Sydney Lohmann (Bayern Munich), Svenja Huth (Wolfsburg), Sara Dabritz (Paris Saint-Germain), Linda Dallmann (Bayern Munich), Lina Magull (Bayern Munich).

Forwards: Jule Brand (Hoffenheim), Lea Schuller (Bayern Munich), Laura Freigang (Eintracht Frankfurt), Alexandra Popp (Wolfsburg), Nicole Anyomi (Eintracht Frankfurt), Tabea Wassmuth (Wolfsburg), Klara Buhl (Bayern Munich).

Midfielders: Sofie Svava (Real Madrid), Katherine Kuhl (Nordsjaelland), Janni Thomsen (Valerenga), Karen Holmgaard (Turbine Potsdam), Sanne Troelsgaard (Reading), Sofie Bredgaard (Rosengard), Sofie Junge Pedersen (Juventus).

Stadium MK will host four matches at the UEFA Women’s EUROS including a semi final on Wednesday 27 July.

Group fixtures taking place at Stadium MK:
Friday 8 July: Spain vs Finland (Group B, 5pm)
Tuesday 12 July: Denmark vs Finland (Group B, 5pm)
Saturday 16 July: Finland vs Germany (Group B, 8pm)

As well as three Group B matches, Stadium MK is also set to play host to a semi final on Wednesday 27 July.
