Tucker: A perfect building block

Jack Tucker shared his thoughts on the first pre-season friendly…

9 July 2022

Tucker spoke to iFollow MK Dons, after he played his first game under Liam Manning, in a 4-0 victory over AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Tucker kept a clean sheet in his first appearance with the Dons, although the centre-half only played the second 45 minutes of the match, due to a squad rotation at half-time.

The young defender said that the game was ‘a perfect building block’ going forward. When asked about the result of the first pre-season friendly, Tucker responded:

“At this stage of the season it’s about getting into good habits, and that’s exactly what we have done. Match results aren’t the main thing, but the basics where there and we played well from back to front.

“Rushden are not an easy team, we had to work hard to achieve that result. It was important to come on and continue the good work within the second half, which we did very well. We were disciplined out of possession, and we limited them to few chances, which is very good.”

Tucker arrived at Stadium MK, after serving Gillingham for five years. When he was questioned about his time at the club so far, the defender said: “It's been great, the boys have been fantastic to me.

“It’s been a welcoming and ambitious group, ever since I walked through the door, which is exactly what I wanted to see. It’s clear that the staff and the players have ambitions for the season ahead, as well as me.
