Cumming: Buzzing to be back

Goalkeeper Jamie Cumming reflects on his decision to re-join MK Dons on loan...

Jamie Cumming is excited to reunite with his teammates, his coaches and the MK Dons supporters, after completing his return to the Club on loan from Chelsea.

Cumming enjoyed an excellent spell on loan with the Dons last season and will now spend the 2022/23 campaign at Stadium MK as well, as the talented young goalkeeper looks to continue his development and aid the Club’s progress.

“I’m buzzing to be back,” he told iFollow MK Dons. “ I've always had in the back of my mind that it was a good option to come back here and I think the timing is right and I’m looking forward to getting going.

“Anyone that knows me, knows I'm very ambitious and I want to play at the highest level but I think the timings right for me to come back to this environment, keep playing games and keep improving - that was a big draw for me, to be able to keep playing and keep developing as a player and a person.

“(At the end of the season) it was a case of trying to take it all in and realise what we achieved last season. Although we fell at the last step, which was frustrating, the memories we made together as a team and as a fanbase, it was a really special year.

“I learnt so much too. The manager and all the backroom staff were all brilliant with me and tactically I learnt so much, especially about playing on the ball and obviously that's a big part of the game as a goalkeeper nowadays. Getting the opportunity to come back here and develop that side of my game even more was a massive draw for me.

“Pricey (Lewis Price) is brilliant and we have a great relationship, on and off the pitch. It’s one of those relationships where you can talk about anything - football or whatever. I’m looking forward to being back with him.

“It’s also good to be working with Franco and Ronnie again. Franco was a big part of welcoming me to the Club last year - he's a brilliant guy and a great goalkeeper as well, so to be able to work with him and push each other once again that will be great.”

Cumming reserved his final message to the fans, with whom he struck up a good relationship during last season’s loan spell: “I’m delighted to get the opportunity to play in front of the fans again.

“I felt like as a team, we bonded really well with the fans last year, especially the away support so hopefully this season we can give them some more memories to shout about and some more great days out - that that's what it's all about!”
