Watson: It takes all of us

Tennai Watson shared his thoughts following Saturday’s defeat…

31 January 2023

MK Dons defender Tennai Watson shared his thoughts after Jevani Brown’s brace handed Mark Jackson’s team a 2-0 defeat at Stadium MK.

Saturday’s shortcomings resulted in back-to-back losses at home for the Dons. Although they dominated the statistics, the home side weren’t able to conjure any goals, as well as points from either fixture.

“I don’t want to give you cliches, but it’s very disappointing.” Watson said about the defeat to Exeter City.

A controversial penalty and a wayward deflection into Brown’s path ensured that the Grecian secured his brace. “In terms of performance it’s a step in the right direction, but we got a bit unlucky today.

“It’s easy to sit here and say we should be finishing chances, Mo and two or three others had opportunities that we could have and should have scored, but that’s football.

“Many people had chances and It’s positive that we’re creating these. It takes all of us to win – all of us to attack and all of us to defend. We’re heading in the right direction, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter – we need the points.”

Throughout the month of January, MK Dons have claimed four points. Mark Jackson, alongside his team now prepare for the February month, which will include facing three teams that currently occupy the top five positions of the League One table.

When questioned about the tough test that next month could bring, the number two replied “I think we can look at this month as an opportunity.

“They’re difficult games, but we can’t be afraid. We’ve got belief within each other, especially with how the manager wants us to play and his philosophy. If we’re on it and play to the best of our ability, we can get a result anywhere.”

On the Dons supporters, the defender commented “We feel all their disappointment, frustration and anger.

“We need them to shake these emotions off with us because they’re going to be vital with these big games coming up.”
