Jackson: An important victory

Head Coach Mark Jackson reflects on his side's 2-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers at the Bolt New Lawn...

Mark Jackson praised his MK Dons side for grinding out an ‘important victory’ at the Bolt New Lawn.

The Dons came from behind on Saturday to beat Forest Green Rovers 2-1 and move out of the bottom four in Sky Bet League One for the first time since October.

Reflecting on the performance, and the result, Jackson said: “It was a really important victory.

“We knew it would be difficult. The surface was not conducive to the football we want to play and that showed - we couldn't really get going and it was scrappy.

“In a game where we couldn't always control it, or have our style of play, we showed different battling qualities, and we stood strong when they put us under pressure. We've shown we’ve got that in our locker.

“It's something we can build on, but we cannot take our foot off the gas now. We need to enjoy it but we've got to prepare for Tuesday now.”

On moving out of the bottom four, the MK Dons Head Coach added: “It's big and we have to continue to look upwards, we can't look behind.”

Here is what else Mark Jackson had to say in his post-match press conference…
On Jonathan Leko’s debut…
“He took a bit of time to get into the game, as the whole team did. He showed (his quality) when we switched him and Mo over, and he delivered the ball for the equaliser.”

On Mo Eisa’s brace…
“Mo has the quality from those areas. We know we need a lot of work in that area, but to get two goals will do his confidence a world of good.”

On Max Dean’s cameo…
“He has good character and he knows what I expect from a striker in and out of possession. It's a challenge for him to come into senior football, but I felt bringing him on at that time would help us. He was relentless in his pressing, and I felt it was a good change.”
