Eisa: Everybody dug in

Mo Eisa shared his thoughts after his brace secured victory…

23 January 2023

MK Dons forward Mo Eisa spoke to the media following his brace, which secured three points at The Bolt New Lawn.

Mark Jackon’s MK Dons travelled to Gloucestershire to face Forest Green Rovers in a Sky Bet League One clash. Although the opposition gained an early lead, Eisa’s goals shortly before and after the break created the difference between the two sides.

A ‘massive’ victory for the Dons on the road, granted them the three points they sought out to achieve, which resulted in the team being lifted out of the bottom four.

“Where both teams were in the table, we just needed to win at all costs”. The striker said.

“I felt as if we were the team that was pushing in the first half, but when they scored, we then upped the tempo a bit more and equalised. The goal early in the second half calmed us down a bit and I believe we could’ve got a third.”

When questioned about his brace, the number ten added “I knew the next time he (Jonathan Leko) had it, I’d gamble at the back post. It was a tight angle, but I knew if I had good contact it would go through the keeper’s legs, which it did and it went it.

“That finish is what I do in training all the time. As soon as I get into that position, I know what I'm doing. I've not been in that position enough, but as soon as I got there, I calmed myself, relaxed and tucked it away.”

Eisa’s equalising goal was set-up by debutant Jonathan Leko, who received an assist after 43 minutes in an MK Dons shirt. “It’s not just me that will connect with him, but the whole team, we have to get that connection quickly.” The goal scorer said regarding his fellow teammate.

The Dons grasped onto their lead as the game entered the final stages, Eisa admitted that “As a unit defensively, we were amazing.

“Everybody dug in and it was good because they didn’t create many chances. It wasn’t comfortable, but it gets like that towards the end of games. The fact that we could see the game out and get three points is all that matters.

“Now, we have to continue to look up, we don’t want to worry about looking down. But that’s up to us, we have to get results and we’ve got another big game on Tuesday night.”
