Watson: Positive mindset

Defender focused on Saturday's test...

6 January 2022

Tennai Watson insists MK Dons won’t let Tuesday’s defeat in the Papa John’s Trophy affect their mindset heading into Saturday’s clash with Accrington Stanley.

The Dons were beaten 1-0 by Charlton Athletic in midweek as they exited the Papa John’s Trophy at the Round of 16 stage.

Liam Manning’s men turn their attention back to Sky Bet League One on Saturday when they travel to Wham Stadium and Watson is confident the side will approach the fixture in a positive frame of mind.

“We've got a group for that,” the MK Dons number 2 told iFollow MK Dons after Tuesday’s loss in the Capital.

“Football is a result-based business so it’s always a shame to lose but the boys are always focused and can see the bigger the picture - we know the job at hand this season.

“Our focus is on Saturday and what is ahead of us. (Accrington) are quite aggressive and like to go man for man so it's going to be a battle and we’ll need to earn the right to play.

“We've got great players in our team who can get the ball down and, hopefully, score goals to win the match.”
