MK Dons Women U19s Football Programme to start in September

19 January 2022

MK Dons are delighted to announce a partnership with MK College that will see the delivery of an Under-19s Female Football Education Programme from September 2022.

The programme, which will sit as part of the Women’s pathway at the club will allow talented and gifted players the opportunity to train and compete in a high-performance environment supporting the development of players into adult football.

Mark Walsh, Deputy Head at MK College, said: “The quality of education that Milton Keynes College provide combined with the experience and quality of football that MK Dons offer around elite female football is an exciting combination.

"If you are an aspiring female footballer who wants to balance full-time education and with football, then this is the programme for you”.

There is set to be recruitment evenings regularly, with the first occurring on Wednesday 2nd February. For more information or to book an open evening email jack.sharp@mkdonsset.com.

Study and Train
Without compromising on education, individuals can choose what to study from a vast range of subjects offered by MK College, with the football curriculum being delivered around lessons. Choose from:
• Football Studies Advanced – BTEC Level 3
• Football Studies Intermediate – NCFE Level 2
Study a variety of subjects as you start your journey to a career in football:
• Performance analysis
• Sports Coaching
• Psychology in Sport
• Business in Football
• Fitness Training & Programming

Jack Sharp, Head of Football & Performance at MK Dons Sport and Education Trust, added: “This programme is a key component to the MK Dons Women’s team pathway, allowing our elite players the opportunity to increase football contact time as an U19 player, whilst experiencing high quality education to support dual careers in the future.

"We look forward to working closely with MK College to create the strongest female football provision locally.

"Players will experience a high-performance training environment mirrored closely to the women’s team with an elite fixture programme supporting with the transition from youth football to the adult game.

“This is such an exciting opportunity for MK Dons Women FC & MK College, there are so many talented female footballers in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. To be able to offer them such a high-quality education & football programme is exciting.”
