Jackson: Got to stay positive

Head Coach Mark Jackson reflects on his side's defeat to Peterborough United...

Mark Jackson says it’s vital MK Dons maintain their positivity, despite their 2-0 defeat to Peterborough United.

Jackson’s men were beaten at the Weston Homes Stadium on Thursday, as goals in each half from Joe Ward and Ricky-Jade Jones condemned the Dons to their first loss in three Sky Bet League One matches.

Despite the result, Jackson is keen to maintain an upbeat tone, especially with a trip to Plymouth Argyle coming up on Sunday.

“There's disappointment in the dressing room but I've tried to be positive with them, because the games are coming thick and fast and we have to keep positivity,” the Head Coach said in his post-match press conference.

“We'll look at the moments in the game where we could have been better, and we certainly could have managed the goals better but we have to be positive because we've got Plymouth (Argyle) up next and not much time to turn around.

“We’ll pick ourselves up and go again. When you win, you can't be too high and when you lose, you can't get too low. You have to create a mindset of enjoying victories but when losses come, you have to pick yourselves up quickly.

“The boys are a little down in there, but after speaking to them, there's a look in their eyes to go again. Things can change quickly.”

Reflecting on the areas his side can improve, Jackson commented: “That final third play, creating chances and finishing, is a key area we have to get better - I knew it was an area we had to improve on coming into the.

“(Giving away penalties) is another area. I’ve challenged us to be more aggressive but we need to stop giving away penalties. However, it was a fantastic save from Jamie (Cumming), which shows his quality and class as a keeper.

“We'll be looking at all that in training, how we build the squad and pick teams and how we solve those problems.”
