Harvie: Starting games quicker

Daniel Harvie reflected on Saturday’s draw…

6 December 2022

Daniel Harvie spoke to the press and shared his thoughts following the 1-1 draw against Burton Albion at Stadium MK.

MK Dons currently find themselves sat within the relegation zone in 22 place with 15 points to their name. Burton currently equal the number of points that the Dons have, but goal difference separates the two sides after the spoils were shared in their Stadium MK meeting.

The Brewers opened the scoring from a spot-kick in the 29 minute, Bradley Johnson then equalised the score-line deep into the second half. Daniel Harvie admitted that the team ‘left it too late’ to capitalise on the numerous chances created. When asked about the clash, Harvie responded: “We must start games a lot quicker.

“We waited until the second half to start playing. We moved the ball into dangerous areas, moved side-to-side a lot quicker, but we left it too late. There were just a lot of nearly moments, which felt like we were waiting for something to happen.

“We didn’t play to the occasion. We go into every game wanting to win, no matter who or where we play, and that wasn’t any different. We really need to be on the front foot at home, we played too much in our half and not in the attacking third. We’ve got another week to work on these things now.”

Johnson’s header on the end of Dawson Devoy’s corner salvaged a point for Liam Manning’s men in the latter stages of the fixture, when asked about the set-piece goal, the number 21 replied:

“We've been practicing a lot on our set-pieces to get the likes of Johnson, O’Hora and Tucker on the end of them. It was good to see one come off, but ultimately, we were disappointed not to win.”
