Goal-scorer Daniel Harvie shared his post-match thoughts after his strike secured a 1-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers at Stadium MK.
MK Dons have struggled to find Sky Bet League One success at home this season. Port Vale was the Dons’ previous opponent to fall short in their travel to Milton Keynes, after Bradley Johnson’s brace provided the first league victory under the Stadium MK lights.
However, following the appointment of Mark Jackson, MK Dons claimed three points at home for the first time since August. Jackson faced a tough test for his debut at the helm, but Daniel Harvie’s goal on the 58-minute mark separated the two sides that lay within the relegation zone.
“It was a good performance, we were aggressive off the ball, and we dealt with their long balls, as well as their directness. There are always bits you can improve on, but it's a massive three points.” Harvie said about the win over Forest Green.
“It's nice to win for the new gaffer, but we want to win every game. We want to take points off everyone, whether they're close to us or at the top of the table, we want to win every game in our style.”
The Dons claimed back-to-back league victories, which hasn’t occurred since April. The number 21 had this to say about the successive three points “Winning back-to-back in the league and two clean sheets too, it's positive but there are always things we can get better at.
“Clean sheets help massively, and it shows the hard work we've been doing on the training pitch. We have been letting in sloppy goals recently, and we weren't defending at our bests. But keeping clean sheets is certainly something we can get better at.”
Mark Jackson became the sixth man in charge of the Dons to mark his start with a victory. When asked about his arrival at the club, Harvie said “The gaffer has come in at short-notice.
“He just wanted us to be all-in really stick together and work hard, get after teams off the ball. We're a good team, but performances haven't been consistent enough for us.
“There was an air of uncertainty for a while because we didn't know who would get the job, but we had to stick together and stay focussed and we’ve done that.
“It has been a tough time to come in and implement stuff straight away, but he's tweaked a few things off the ball with how we press, and we were after them from the first minute. The last two league games have been really good for us.”
