Burns: A family club

Darragh Burns shared his thoughts ahead of the Stadium MK fixture…

3 December 2022

Darragh Burns and co will welcome Burton Albion to Stadium MK to battle in a Sky Bet League One fixture, the winger shared his thoughts ahead of the clash.

MK Dons faced Portsmouth within the Emirates FA Cup competition in their previous fixture. Burns’ equalising goal, accompanied by a strong team display, kept the Dons’ FA Cup campaign alive. Although, Pompey’s advantage proved too great, which saw Liam Manning’s men exit the tournament in the second-round.

The young Irishmen has scored four goals so far in his time at Stadium MK, all of which have been scored within cup competitions. Burns said “Hopefully the goals can keep coming and I can score a few in the league. That being said, don’t care what competition I score them in, as long as they keep coming.

“Every attacker wants to score goals, much like every defender and goalkeeper wants to keep a clean sheet. Hopefully I can continue to provide that for the team.”

Even though the Dons fell short to Portsmouth, the winger felt that the team displayed a ‘top-notch performance’, which they will now look to build on as they return their focus towards the league. “We go into any competition with the same objective. To win.

“We know what we can do and what we’re capable of as a group, I think we’ve really turned a corner in these past few weeks. Hopefully, we can continue to build on these performances and get a run of form going within the league”

The Irishmen moved out of his home country when he transferred to Stadium MK during the summer. When asked about his time in Milton Keynes so far, the number 20 replied “Milton Keynes in general is a nice place.

“It’s such a family club that I’ve moved to and the minute you step through the door they love you. The people here are great and if you work hard for them on the pitch, they will definitely take care of you off the pitch.

“It’s going really well for me so far and I don’t think I could have moved to a better area.
