Robson: A week to build on

Saturday's goalscorer reflects on the 1-1 draw at Stadium MK...

Ethan Robson was happy to get off the mark against Accrington Stanley on Saturday – a goal which secured a four-point for MK Dons last week.

The Dons, who had beaten Port Vale earlier in the week, were unfortunate not to make it back-to-back wins at Stadium MK, with opponents Accy grabbing a share of the spoils late on from the penalty spot, cancelling out Robson’s first-half strike.

Reflecting on the result, Robson said: “Obviously we're devastated not to get three points but it's a point and it's something to build on.

“To get the win in the week was a massive plus for us. We've got a young, hungry team so to (get four points) is a big positive but know it has to be better if we want to get to where we want to this season.”

Robson added: “There is no better feeling than to score. The guy seemed to drop off me a bit, and I just thought why not - if you don't shoot you don't score! I caught it well and thankfully it was a good strike into the top corner.

“It's something I'm looking to add to my game, so I'll be getting forward as often as I can. Last season, we scored a lot of goals from midfield and it's something that will definitely help us this season.

MK Dons now face successive away trips in Sky Bet League One as they look to build on the four points they accumulated last week at Stadium MK.

“We’ve got to stay as positive as we can,” Robson commented. “The manager keeps us level headed and tells us to remain in the sweet spot win or lose.

“There will be highs and lows in the season, but we have to find the balance of not getting too low or high. There are a lot of games coming so we've got to keep moving forward.”
