MK Dons progressed into third-round of the Carabao cup after they claimed a 2-0 victory at Vicarage Road, Darragh Burns spoke to the press post-match, after he delivered a goal and an assist to help achieve the victory.

Burns started his second game for the Dons, the winger placed himself in Liam manning’s starting 11 for the first time in round one of the competition, against Sutton United.

Having provided a goal and an assist that knocked out Championship side Watford, Burns said ‘it was a good night’s work, but we can’t get too carried away.’ When questioned about the result, the number 20 had this to say: “It was a good night.

“Coming here and winning 2-0 was never going to be easy, but we came here to cause an upset and we're all delighted to have done it. That being said, it’s a quick turn around and now we’re already onto Saturday.

“We knew we'd have to work hard, you don't get anything here for nothing. We all had to put in a shift, and we battled for 90 minutes, that's why we got the result.

“I had my mum, my little sister, and a few mates in the crowd as well, it was a special night for me.  I've got a dead leg, and I'm in bits! But I'd have taken it before the game if we could win 2-0! Hopefully tonight has got us up and running.”

The Irishmen moved from his country to MK Dons at 19-years old, his transfer from St Patrick’s occurred during the summer. Burns said, ‘I've only been here a few weeks from Ireland, I've got to be patient, but when I’m called upon, I will give my 100 percent.’

The winger has registered two goal contributions within two appearances for the Dons, he expressed that everyone at the club ‘has helped him and Dawson settle in nicely’ his fellow Irish teammate, who also transferred to the club during the summer.

Finally, the number 20 wanted to express his gratitude to the 1,700 plus fans that travelled to Watford on Tuesday night. When asked about the fans, the winger said:

“The support tonight was unbelievable. I want to thank all the fans for coming down on a Tuesday night. They played a big part in it tonight, and I hope we can get a few more wins for them in the next few weeks.”
