Young Dons bow out of County Cup

Defeat at the Select Car Leasing Stadium...

11 April 2022

A young MK Dons side bowed out of the BBFA Senior Cup at the semi-final stage after defeat to Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

In front of a crowd of over 400, it was the Royals who came out on top by a 4-0 scorline courtesy of goals from Mamadi Camara, Kian Leavy, Rashawn Scott and Jahmari Clarke.

Camara put the home side ahead after seven minutes when he fired home from the edge of the area.

Captain Jack Davies, one of two professionals in the Dons XI, prevented Reading from doubling their lead with a superb block before John Freeman went close to levelling direct from a free-kick – he was denied by an excellent save by Jökull Andrésson.

The Royals maintained their lead through until half-time before Ireland youth international Leavy doubled the advantage with an effort into the top corner seven minutes after the re-start.

Just prior to the hour mark, Scott curled home a brilliant third for Reading, who then completed the scoring with a fourth just three minutes later. Reading will face Ascot United in the Final.

MK Dons: Sandford, Anderson, Waller, Freeman, Ogundega, Davies, Gyamfi, Bombo, Blennerhassett, Anker, Holmes.

Subs: Mann, Lucas, Kane, Daffern, Tripp.
