Scott Twine was full of appreciation for his support network after being named Sky Bet League One Player of the Season.
Twine was named the division’s standout player on Sunday at the 2022 EFL Awards, following a campaign in which he has contributed to a stunning 29 goals and helped fire MK Dons to, at least, a third-placed finish.
“I’m buzzing,” Twine told iFollow MK Dons from the EFL Awards. “I didn’t think I was going to get it at the start of the night so I couldn’t believe it and I just was so happy when I received it.’
“I was expecting a good season, but it never crossed my mind about winning this award. I’m just so happy because I’m really enjoying this season so much and hopefully that continues.
“I’ve loved it since the first minute I arrived. I knew that this would be the right move for me and I can’t speak highly enough of the club - it’s a special club and all the players and the staff have made me feel so welcome.
“We wouldn’t be where we are, and I wouldn’t be where I am, without a really good team and really good management - we’ve got great togetherness at the Club and it’s the best changing room I’ve ever been in by a mile.
“Even the fans have made me feel so welcome. They have been brilliant to me an have sung my name since the first game - it’s so nice to hear and it’s a massive boost on the pitch.
“Also, my family. My dad is my biggest fan - he doesn’t miss a game and I know he’s so proud of me, which is great to know after all the hard work he has put in for me.”
Now the focus for Twine is finishing the season in style on Saturday by securing success for the team at Plymouth Argyle.
“That’s the ultimate goal,” he said. “We have full focus on Plymouth - hopefully we can win and the results go our way.”
