MK Dons midfielder Scott Twine has been named the Sky Bet League One Player of the Season.

Twine, who was shortlisted alongside Barry Bannan and Michael Smith, received the honour at the 2022 EFL Awards on Sunday.

He becomes the first player in Club history to win the Sky Bet League One Player of the Season award and the third to win a divisional Player of the Season award following on from Izale McLeod and Keith Andrews.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stunning first season at Stadium MK, contributing to 29 goals in 44 league appearances – the most goal contributions by an MK Dons player.

Twine has found the net 16 times and provided 13 assists while he ranks first in the division for goals from outside the area and free-kicks. The division’s most fouled player is also amongst the division’s best for shots, through passes, smart passes and deep completions.

He was announced as the Sky Bet League One Player of the Season at the 2022 EFL Awards, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Sunday 24 April. Twine was also included in the Sky Bet League One Team of the Season alongside teammate Harry Darling.

There was further recognition for MK Dons on the night, following their confirmation as one of the six regional winners of the Your Move Community Club of the Season. MK Dons were also among the contenders for the Kin + Carta Family Club of the Season.
