Liam Manning was delighted with the way in which his MK Dons side performed in Saturday’s victory over Shrewsbury Town.

Manning’s men extended their unbeaten run to 13 games after a professional 2-0 win at Stadium MK, with goals in each half from Mo Eisa and Scott Twine securing the result which moves the Dons to within a point of top spot in Sky Bet League One.

“I'm delighted with how we performed,” the Head Coach said in his post-match press conference.

“We had a break last week which threatened to knock our rhythm but I was really pleased with how the players responded - their discipline, focus and intent was terrific.

“(Shrewsbury) are a team that are well set-up defensively and they don't give up many chances but we showed good composure and good quality.

“That first goal was quality. It takes real bravery to play like that - the easier thing to do would be to smash it down the pitch, but we have players who are brave, who can think quickly, are technically good. It was a fantastic goal and it gave us a lift.

“Sometimes this season, coming out in the second half 1-0 up, we've not managed it as well as we'd have liked but we saw the game out.

“We had other chances as well as well as maybe a penalty and Harry Darling's goal, which was onside - it could have been more!”

Manning added: “The players are a delight to work with - they're a closely-connected group of players and we're seeing that transfer onto the pitch now. I feel calm knowing that we've got players who can step up and perform.”
