Manning: Channel disappointment into fuel for Tuesday

Liam Manning reflects on his side's 3-2 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Stadium MK...

Liam Manning has called on his MK Dons side to use their Sheffield Wednesday disappointment as fuel for the remaining three games.

Manning’s men fell to their first defeat in 16 games on Saturday night as three goals inside the opening half an hour from the Owls proved too much to overcome, despite a spirited comeback which saw the Dons get within one.

“It was clear to see where that game was lost and it was totally unlike us,” Manning said in his post-match press conference.

“When you play against good, experienced players and you get your margins wrong like we did, you can find yourselves 3-0 down and chasing.

“But, what we saw in the second half was spirit and character. We had some good chances in the second half and some good moments.”

Manning added: “You’ll get moments like we had tonight. None of us like losing but we have a duty to the players to take a step back and see the bigger picture.

“They've been unbelievable for a long period of time and, when you see some of the teams we're competing against, the lads have been terrific.

“We won't sit around feeling sorry for ourselves. We can't dwell on it – we have to learn, reflect and go again. We'll channel all that into Tuesday.”

Manning also provided an update on striker Mo Eisa, who was stretchered off with non-contact injury midway through the second half.

“It's not looking great,” the Head Coach said. “We'll need to look at it but he's down in the dressing room - he's gutted. We’ll have to give it a bit of time to see where he's at.”
