Max eager to make up for lost time

Striker talks return to action...

16 September 2021

It’s been a frustrating start to the season for Max Watters but now the striker is back and ready to contribute for MK Dons.

Watters suffered an injury in the pre-season friendly with Tottenham Hotspur back in July – one which kept him sidelined up until last weekend’s win over Portsmouth at Stadium MK when he came off the bench to make his debut for the Club.

The Cardiff City loanee is now eager to make up for lost time and is excited to get to work under Liam Manning.

“After five weeks out, I’m over the moon to be back and in the squad,” Watters told iFollow MK Dons this week in an exclusive interview ahead of the Sky Bet League One clash with Gillingham.

“It was a frustrating start to the season, getting injured just before the start. No time is ever good to get injured but it has given me a bit of time to get to know the new manager.

“The new manager has been really helpful with the injured players. He’s brought us into meetings and allowed us to watch on the training pitch to see how he works. Nobody has been left out.

“As a striker, you can’t want to be in any other team. With the amount of chances we create, good chances as well, it’s amazing to be a striker in this team.”

He added: “It was good to get on the pitch (against Portsmouth) but more importantly, it was about the win. We got the three points.

“It’s been a really good start to the season. We’re top five at the moment and what we’ve got to do now is push on.

“It’s been a good week’s training and everyone is looking forward to Saturday. We’re all feeling positive about it.”
