Jay Bird has joined National League side Wealdstone on loan.
The 21-year-old striker, who has featured once for MK Dons this season, heads to the capital to gain first-team experience and could make his Stones debut on Saturday when they take on Torquay United.
This is Bird’s second loan spell away from Stadium MK having previously spent time on loan with Hitchin Town.
Sporting Director Liam Sweeting said: “I’m really pleased to have found an excellent loan opportunity for Jay. Wealdstone’s management have tracked Jay for a long time, since he was playing out on loan at Hitchin, and we feel this is a great next step in Jay’s development to show what he can do at National League level.
“Jay did excellent for us in pre-season, showing his quality in front of goal on three occasions, as well as recently in the Papa John’s Trophy. That said, we’re mindful that for most young footballers, the last 18 months through the pandemic has been extremely challenging as they have been starved of game time and it’s important we don’t risk anyone standing still.
“I’m looking forward to watching Jay closely over the next few months.”
