Dons bow out of Vitality Women's FA Cup...

15 November 2021

MK Dons Women bowed out of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat at home to Ipswich Town.

Goals from Ipswich Town’s Zoe Barratt and Lucy O’Brien saw the Dons exit at the First Round Proper stage.

Tricia Gould went close to an opener for MK Dons shortly before Ipswich took the lead through Barratt’s one-on-one finish.

Their lead was doubled just before half-time when O’Brien found the net with a superb 25-yard strike.

Amy McClean forced a save out of the Ipswich goalkeeper as MK Dons searched for a way back into the tie before half-time. McClean also had an opportunity early in the second but fired over after some good play by Sofia Stovold.

The chances kept coming for the Dons, as fingertips denied Laura Mills a goal with 20 minutes to play.

That Mills opportunity was the closest Charlie Bill’s side came to getting on the scoresheet, as their Vitality Women’s FA Cup journey came to an end at Willen Road.

MK Dons: Sansom, Warren, Bright, Barrett (Taho 72), Rush, Albert, Pepper, Stovold, Gould (McClean 33), Mills (Tyrell 79), Newman.

Subs: Martin, Boote, Newsome, Newman-Booth.
