Harry Darling has called on MK Dons to cut out the mistakes, like the ones which cost them the opportunity to secure their place in the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
The Dons looked on course to beat Stevenage in their First Round tie at Stadium MK but two goals in three second-half minutes from the visitors saw Darling & Co forced to fight back and earn a replay, which will take place next week at the Lamex Stadium.
“We cannot keep doing it,” Darling said in his post-match interview when asked about the goals conceded. “The sloppiness has happened too often this season - we have to work on that.
“It's disappointing. I felt we had full control of the game but we've let in two sloppy goals.
“We're at a level where teams will punish us if we make a mistake so we have to cut out those mistakes as a team and we have to keep clean sheets – that's the bottom line.
“If I'm honest, I think we're lucky to come away with a draw. We didn't lose, at the end of the day, which is the only positive we can take. We'll go again in the replay and try to win that.
“Whatever competition is it, we want to do well. We'll go there wanting to win.”
Harry Darling and MK Dons turn their attention back to Sky Bet League One this Saturday when they take on Cambridge United at Stadium MK.
