MK Dons FA Youth Cup journey came to and end on Tuesday night after they were comprehensively beaten by their Leeds United counterparts.
Lee Collier's side were forced to play over 70-minutes of their tie with 10-men after Josh Bailey's first-half red card.
The home sides Premier League class shone through as they netted four goals inside the first 45-minutes. The game was then put to bed after the break as Leeds added a further four goals.
After the original tie back in January was postponed, MK Dons finally returned to FA Youth Cup action as they took on Leeds United in the FA Youth Cup.
Tom Carter was handed a start between the sticks, while Rio Deall, Charlie Smith, Harry Riley, Jack Davies and Brooklyn Ilunga made up the defence ahead of him.
Josh Bailey, who captained the side, sat alongside Tom Rowley and Max Cane in midfield, with James Holmes and Ryan Holmes leading the line.
With a place in the Fourth Round up for grabs, it was a typically nervous start to the tie. An early Leeds attack was dealt with by Jack Davies before Bailey forced Christy.
Rowley was then fouled roughly 30-yards from goal allowing MK Dons to put bodies in the opposition area. The free-kick, however, was cleared with Riley waiting to head home.
Holmes then chased down a back pass, but his strike on goal blocked by Harvey Sutclife. Leeds’ Cian Coleman then fired wide from 25-yards after he created space for a shot.
With 15-minutes gone the home side took the lead. Having won possession inside Dons’ half, Joseph Snowdon then found the far corner with his right-footed strike. 1-0.
The opening goal gave Leeds life and they doubled their advantage just a minute later. Morten Spencer tried his luck from range, his strike took an unfortunate deflection, one which wrong-footed Carter, and found the back of the net. 2-0.
The Dons, not to be dispirited by the scoreline looked for an immediate. Rowley jinxed his way past two defenders and his goal-bound effort was blocked by his own teammate.
The Young Dons were then dealt an even tougher task when Josh Bailey was sent off for his foul in the middle of the park.
Just a minute later, with 25-minutes gone, Leeds had their third of the evening as Max McMillan found the back of the net after some neat footwork inside the box. 3-0.
James Holmes provided a route back into the game for Lee Collier’s side as reduced the deficit. Rowley created room for a cross on the right with his cross picking out Holmes, his first effort was saved, but the striker was on hand to turn home on the rebound. 3-1.
Leeds, however, responded quickly as Coleman restored the three-goal advantage with his deflected finish from outside the box. 4-1.
After a frantic start to the second-half in which the Dons upped their intensity, Leeds once again found a way past Carter to score their fifth of the evening –– Joseph Snowdon scoring his second of the game. 5-1.
Shortly after the hour, Max McMillan fired home a sixth Leeds goal. 6-1.
Substitute William Fewster added to the scoreline as his strike curled past Carter. 7-1.
The Dons continued to go forward and could've had their second of the game had Smith's found the other side of the post. The right-backs strike hit the side-netting after a good driving run from Illunga.
The home side made it eight as Jimmy Chikukwa smashed home. 8-1.
Jallow added a late consolation as his effort from outside the box found the bottom corner. 8-2.
