Darling benefitting from experienced duo

Centre-back pays tribute to work of Russell Martin and David Martin...

Harry Darling has paid tribute to the work of Russell Martin and Dean Lewington in helping both him and Warren O’Hora develop in the heart of the MK Dons defence.

Darling has enjoyed an excellent start to lift with the Dons, and was voted Man of the Match by supporters following Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle at Stadium MK.

The 21-year-old, though, was quick to thank both his manager and his captain for their support in aiding with his development.

“I’m really enjoying it here,” Darling told iFollow MK Dons in the aftermath of Tuesday’s win over Plymouth.

“Russ is doing a lot of work with me and Wozza (Warren O’Hora). He’s obviously played at the highest level so I’m getting the best coaching I can get and hopefully I can keep improving and playing well.

“(Dean Lewington) has been brilliant with me and Wozza too. He’s that experienced head in our back three and that really helps.”

Tuesday’s triumph made it back-to-back league victories for the Dons, who now sit 14th in the Sky Bet League One table, 15 points clear of the bottom four and seven adrift of the play-off spots.

“Everyone can see we’re building something and hopefully we can keep improving and next season we can look at pushing for something,” Darling said.

“We need to keep adapting and I feel like we’re doing that better each game. We’re getting more and more control of matches but we need to keep going and keep improving that.”
