Russell Martin knows his MK Dons squad has it in them to bounce back from their recent winless run.
The Dons take on Accrington Stanley this weekend looking to secure their first victory in six outings, and boss Martin has faith in his players to be able to show the same response they did at the turn of the year when they turned four games without a success into eight wins from 11.
“We know what we need to do,” Martin said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Accrington at Stadium MK.
“I think we’re building back to our best. Despite the result (on Tuesday), we showed some fantastic actions and I’ve got a lot of confidence after that.
“I’m looking forward to (Saturday). When this group have had some adversity, they have come through it with real energy belief and intensity.”
Opponents Accrington sit six places and eight points above the Dons in the Sky Bet League One table but travel to Stadium MK with only one win to their name over their last five matches.
“They’ve had a lot of games recently, and maybe that’s catching up with them a bit, but they have still been performing really well,” Martin said.
“Not too long ago, if they won their games in hand at the time, they’d have been top, so they are a real threat. They are really good at what they do, with a manager who is really experienced.”
