Russell Martin is excited to get back to work on Monday, as preparations for the 2021/22 season are set to ramp up at Stadium MK.
After undergoing testing and screening earlier this week, the MK Dons squad will begin their pre-season training on Monday and Martin, who is entering his second full season at helm, can’t wait to get started again.
“It exciting,” Martin told iFollow MK Dons. “It’s come around really quickly and now we’re looking forward to getting the players back in on Monday and preparing for the first game.
“It will be nice to see everyone again and be back to feeling the energy and the dynamic of everyone being together.
“We all needed a break to recharge but we’ve not stopped working throughout and we’ve been in constant communication, looking at how we can improve and how we can improve.
“We need to make sure every training session counts and every minute we have together counts so that, by the time the first game comes around, we will be ready.”
Martin continued: “There has been a lot of change at the Club structurally, with some great people getting some opportunities that they deserve. Change brings about opportunity and we’re looking forward to seizing that opportunity and maximising our potential.
“I’m just excited for the journey we are going to be on this season. It’s about improving and strengthening the identity that we have and the culture we have. We hope people can enjoy it because that’s the most important bit.
“Hopefully we can continue to build this connection we have built in my time here. The fans have been incredible with us, the messages they’ve sent and their feedback, I’m really looking forward to seeing that again at Stadium MK.”
