Dean Bowditch has ‘signed a new deal with MK Dons’ to become the Club’s Business Development Manager & Community Ambassador.

The former MK Dons striker, who scored 48 goals in 227 games at Stadium MK, has been back with the Football Club since December 2019, where he has worked exclusively with the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET) as a Community Ambassador.

In his new role, Bowditch will retain responsibility over MK Dons SET's Friends of the Trust scheme but will now focus on driving commercial revenue for the Club as well as the SET.

Working with existing clients and new businesses, the ex-number 9 will also have a prominent presence in hospitality areas on matchdays, interviewing players, past and present, amongst other functions.

Speaking to mkdons.com, Bowditch said: “Andy Wooldridge (MK Dons Commercial Manager) helped me enormously in my previous role when I was dealing with businesses that were supporting the SET, and when he mentioned the possibility of moving into the commercial department more formally, it was absolutely something I wanted to do.

“I’ll be looking to do all I can to help MK Dons continue to grow off the pitch. From my early conversations with businesses, there is a real eagerness to be part of something here at Stadium MK and support this football team under Russell Martin.

“We are here to accommodate that, while, of course, this also remains a fantastic platform for companies to promote what they do in a 30,000-seater stadium.”

Bowditch added: “The Friends of the Trust will remain an important part of my role. The Friends of the Trust is a group of businesses, local and global, who support the SET’s work within the community through annual donations, or by lending their time or their expertise.

“We want to continue growing the Friends of the Trust because the more people we can reach out to, the better it is for the community in our region.”

Chairman Pete Winkelman told mkdons.com: “Since re-joining the Club, Dean has worked hard to build strong relationships for the MK Dons Sport and Education Trust and this is the perfect next step for him in his personal development.

“Dean has already contributed so much to MK Dons on the pitch and it is fantastic to see the desire and willingness of one of our all-time great players to continue supporting the Football Club.”

Commercial Manager at MK Dons, Andy Wooldridge, commented: “It’s a natural progression for Dean, who has already been working hard on the Friends of the Trust scheme and building relationships with a number of different businesses across Milton Keynes.

“We have a huge, diverse group of businesses that support the Football Club and Dean will be able to support to commercial team in engaging with those partners, sponsors, advertisers and hospitality members.

“Already he has added tremendous value to the team, spending time with a number of clients and getting them on board as new box holders or as new advertisers for next season. Just as important will be his role on a matchday, where he will only add to our world-class hospitality be providing that expert insight for our guests.”
