When Matt O’Riley sits down to watch tonight’s EURO 2020 semi final, the MK Dons midfielder will have a tough decision to make.

That’s because while he has grown up in England and represented the Three Lions at youth level, O’Riley has a Danish mother and plenty of relatives living in the Nordic country.

“My Mum’s fully Danish and I have a lot of family over there who I get on really well with,” he told mkdons.com ahead of tonight’s semi final at Wembley Stadium.

“I’ve been to Denmark numerous times. I’ve never lived there but certainly wouldn’t be against the idea. I love the country and would recommend getting over to Copenhagen if you get the chance - what a place!

“I don’t follow the Danish league massively but, of course, I know most of the teams well. I’ve followed the national team massively this Euro’s and I think they’ve got the eye of a lot of people.”

So, the big question – who will he be supporting when the game kicks off at 8pm?

“It’s tough to say who I’ll be supporting as I am in that strange situation where I’m in the middle,” he said. “Whatever the outcome I think I’ll be happy regardless!

“I just can’t wait for the game! Denmark try to play some really good stuff and I think most of their performances have reflected that over the course of the tournament. I can’t really say what I’m expecting, I’m just hoping for an entertaining game.”
