Milton Keynes Dons right behind MK bid for City status

Milton Keynes to submit bid for City status in 2022...

15 July 2021

Milton Keynes Dons is in full support of Milton Keynes Council’s bid for City status in 2022.

MK Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman said: “We are fully behind the Council’s cross-party bid to secure City status for Milton Keynes.

“It is fitting that this opportunity comes in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee with Milton Keynes unique in being the only place designated, designed and fully developed during Her reign. One of our proudest moments was to welcome Queen Elizabeth II in 2007 to officially open Stadium MK, which has since hosted some of the biggest occasions in sports, music and entertainment.

“As a Football Club, we have always endeavoured to reflect the original ethos of Milton Keynes – to be bold, to be original and to deliver. We have always thought of ourselves as a City - now is our time to formally become one.”

We are Milton Keynes.
