George Williams has completed a permanent move to Bristol Rovers, MK Dons can confirm.

Williams, whose deal was set to expire this June, departs Stadium MK after four-and-a-half years back at the Club where he began his football career as a youngster. He links up with former Dons boss Paul Tisdale.

“George was out of contract with us in the summer and with there being no certainty on his situation moving forwards here, and having found himself out of the team, this was an opportunity for him to secure his long-term future,” manager Russell Martin told mkdons.com.

“He has been a terrific and loyal servant to this Football Club, for which we are extremely grateful, and he goes with all our best wishes for the future.”

Williams, who progressed through the Club's Academy before leaving at the end of his scholarship period, returned to Stadium MK in June 2016 and went on to amass 174 appearances for MK Dons – the second-most by an MK Dons Academy graduate and 11th overall.

He helped the Dons achieve promotion to Sky Bet League One during the 2018/19 season and captained the side on a number of occasions.

The Club would like to place on its record its gratitude to George for his outstanding contribution during his time as an MK Dons player, and wish him every success in the future.
