Ethan Laird says he’s looking to impress on the pitch in order to thank Russell Martin for the faith and trust he’s installed in the Manchester United loanee.
Laird, who arrived on loan earlier this month, has impressed down the right for MK Dons and has already become one to watch in just his three appearances.
His pace and tricky combined with his dangerous delivery makes him a threat in the final third. That was on full display last Tuesday when he helped Joe Mason score the first of his hat-trick.
Now, Laird wants to thank Russell Martin with more impressive performances, as he looks to help MK Dons climb up the Sky Bet League One table.
“Coming here the manager has put faith in me to play games and do as much as I can,” Laird told the local media. “My aims are to be as successful as possible with the team and play as many games as possible.
“It’s exciting. I’ve had a few games which has been good for me and the manager has put trust in me which I’m glad he has. I hope I’ve impressed him with what I’ve done so far and long may it continue.”
His move to Stadium MK is Laird’s first taste of EFL football, and despite the step up from Under-23s football, the Manchester United youngster is enjoying his new challenge.
“The transition for me is more the physicality of it and what you can get away with. There are a few tussles you can do if the ball is in the air, and no questions are asked. Under-23s football is it is harsher.
“It’s a big learning curve for me because it’s stuff I’m not used too but I have to get used to it in order to adapt.”
