Danny enjoying start to life at Stadium MK

19 January 2021

After arriving from Ayr United in the Summer Transfer Window, Daniel Harvie says he’s enjoyed the early stages of his MK Dons career.

Despite his young age, Harvie has already made over 100 professional appearances and has become a mainstay in Russell Martin’s Matchday squad totalling 20 appearances for MK Dons this season.

Having also represented Scotland Under-21s this season, Harvie’s opening months at Stadium MK were disrupted due to international duty. The Defender admits it took him a while to adjust to a new style given his international exploits, but now feels he’s coming into his own.

“I think I’ve adapted well,” Harvie told the local media ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Fleetwood Town. “The early stages were a bit stop start going away with Scotland, it was difficult sometimes. I feel as if I’ve settled down now, the boys have been great and the staff have also been good - I’ve loved every minute of it here.”

As MK Dons have grown in their performances - Daniel Harvie has grown together with the team. The Scot believes MK Dons are starting to find their feet– and it’s not by coincidence.

“At the start of the season it was a new formation for a lot of us, we knew we’d be getting onto the same wavelength. We’ve got to that stage now, we had that bumpy period at the start and worked hard to get us into a good position. No team is perfect, but I think we are on the right path and we are doing well.

“We do a lot of work in training on how we want to play and how we can hurt teams. I think we’re capable of a lot, some games this season we’ve felt we could’ve won. I think we had a few draws that we felt we should’ve won the game. Some games we concede early and it’s a battle trying to win the game. We’ve got a lot of good players who are capable of a lot of things and it’s about putting that together.

MK Dons return to Stadium MK tonight for the first time since Boxing Day – a home comfort Harvie has missed.

“It feels as if we’ve been playing away most of the time. It’ll be good to get back at Stadium MK, we’re missing the fans, to be honest. It’ll be good to get back home on our pitch and try take the three points tomorrow.”
