Darling praises staff and players after successful Dons start

Defender has enjoyed an excellent start to life at Stadium MK...

Harry Darling has impressed fans and staff alike with his steller performances since his arrival in the January Transfer Window.

The defender, however, was quick to praise Russell Martin, Luke Williams and his teammates for helping him settle in quickly to life at Stadium MK.

The 21-year-old feels the welcoming dressing room at MK1 has enabled him to make the transition easier.

“I’m pleased with the start so far, it’s a credit to Russ and Luke for how much time they’ve spent with me,” Darling told the local media. “You need a lot of detail with the way we play for them to stay patient with me and give me that detail is so important.

“It’s different from what I was playing at Cambridge, it’s a way I want to pay though. It’s a hard system to grasp but once you’ve understood it – it’s enjoyable.

“I think it’s a credit to the boys and the staff as everyone has been brilliant and made the transition so easy for me to settle in so well.”

Last week Darling & Co picked up six points from two away fixtures against Rochdale and Hull City respectively. The two wins ensured the Dons climbed three places in the table and now sit just seven points off the play-offs.

Despite their impressive run of form, Darling says the squad are only looking at the next game and aren’t getting carried away with their results.

“I think we have to take it game by game – that’s probably the boring answer. We can’t look far ahead because we could get lost. We need to keep moving and looking ahead to the next game.

“We had a great week to be fair with wins over Rochdale and Hull, it’s a lot of travelling and we made it a good week. The morale is high and we need to make sure that continues.

“It’s a shame the fans aren’t here, but to see their comments on Social Media is really good to see and gives you a confidence boost.”
