Watters recalled by Cardiff

Striker to return to his parent club...

31 December 2021

Max Watters has been recalled by parent club Cardiff City, after the Welsh outfit activated the clause in the loan agreement.

Watters joined MK Dons back in July and went on to score seven goals in 14 appearances.

The striker will officially return to the Cardiff City Stadium on 2 January but, due to injury, won’t feature in MK Dons’ New Year’s Day fixture with Gillingham at Stadium MK.

Sporting Director Liam Sweeting said: “With every season-long loan deal, the parent club has the option to recall their player in January and while we are very much disappointed to lose Max, we respect Cardiff’s decision to activate that clause.

“Max made a strong contribution in the games that he played, scoring some important goals, and he returns to Wales with our gratitude and best wishes for the remainder of the season and his career.”

Sweeting added: “Succession planning is a huge part of our recruitment process and work is well underway with regards to bolstering our squad during the January Transfer Window.”
