Lewis Johnson marked his first Banbury United start with a goal as he helped the Puritans progress in the Southern League Challenge Cup.

Johnson, who made his debut for Banbury at the weekend, was handed a start for Tuesday’s Southern League Challenge Cup Third Round tie and, with 69 minutes on the clock, fired home a low strike to make it 2-0 and seal the Oxfordshire club’s place in the next round.

Meanwhile, Jack Davies played 90 minutes for Oxford City in their 1-0 victory over Ebbsfleet United.

Davies & Co have now kept four clean sheets in a row in the National League South and sit just one point and one place behind league leaders Dartford.

Jay Bird didn’t feature in a much-changed Wealdstone side who were beaten in the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup by Bedfont & Feltham.
