Loan watch: Davies stars in another Oxford shut-out

Three loanees in action on Saturday...

6 December 2021

Jack Davies helped Oxford City keep a second straight clean sheet as they beat Hungerford Town 1-0 to maintain their pursuit of top spot in the National League South.

Davies played 67 minutes in the victory, which keeps Oxford just a point behind leaders Dartford.

Meanwhile, Laurie Walker made his sixth successive appearance for Aldershot Town in their National League encounter with Altrincham.

Walker pulled off a number of saves, including a full-stretched diving stop in injury time to help the Shots earn a 2-2 draw and a point which moves them further clear of the relegation zone.

Lewis Johnson was the only other Don in action last weekend after he came off the bench for Banbury United in their Southern League Premier Division Central fixture with St. Ives Town.

Johnson played the final half an hour but couldn’t prevent the Puritans suffering a 2-1 loss - their first league defeat of the season.

Jay Bird was an unused substitute for Wealdstone while Charlie Smith wasn’t involved for Kidlington.

Lewis Johnson is the only loanee who could feature in midweek as his Banbury United side entertain Biggleswade United in a Southern League Premier Division Central clash.
