Franco: A team effort

Goalkeeper reflects on the Papa John's Trophy win over Leyton Orient...

2 December 2021

Franco Ravizzoli was pleased his first professional clean sheet helped MK Dons through to the Last 16 of the Papa John’s Trophy.

The Dons worked their way past Leyton Orient in their Round of 32 tie at the Breyer Group Stadium, beating the O’s on penalties after a goalless draw in 90 minutes.

Ravizzoli played his part in the shut-out, producing a number of saves including a fingertip stop midway through the first half, but wasn’t willing to take all the credit for it.

“A clean sheet as a goalkeeper is always good but the whole team worked hard for it,” the Argentine told iFollow MK Dons after Tuesday’s win.

“It’s a credit to the guys at the back and the whole team – we all defended well.

“(As goalkeepers) we need to be there when the team needs us. It was a quiet game for me because the team defended pretty well.”

MK Dons aren’t in action this weekend so have a chance to rest and recuperate before their Sky Bet League One clash with Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday. Ravizzoli believes the break has come at a good time.

“We have been playing a lot and travelling so this break will be important for us,” he said.
