Aden Baldwin insists MK Dons will take it round by round in the Papa John’s Trophy but admits the target is to win the competition.

Baldwin scored the decisive spot-kick on Tuesday evening as the Dons secured their place in the Last 16 and moved to within three victories of a trip to Wembley Stadium.

“We take it game by game but obviously there is a trophy at the end of it so of course we are in it to win it,” Baldwin said in his post-match interview with iFollow MK Dons, following the win over Leyton Orient.

“Leyton Orient made it quite hard for us (on Tuesday) but we defended well. I was happy to score my penalty and help us go through.

“The penalties showed great character from the lads and real good quality as well.”

Tuesday’s win made it back-to-back successes in all competitions for Liam Manning’s men, who now turn their attention to two difficult home matches against Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United. Baldwin hopes the momentum and confidence gained will help them.

“Confidence is key,” he commented. “There are a lot of hard games coming up so we need to make sure we are ready for it.”
