Watson enjoying life under Manning

Defender has featured in every one of Liam Manning's games in charge...

Tennai Watson says he and his MK Dons teammates have enjoyed the opportunity to spend time on the training pitch with Head Coach Liam Manning this week.

After a hectic start to his tenure in charge, Manning has finally had a chance to implement his ideas and philosophies on the training pitch, rather than the lecture theatre – and it’s something that Watson believes the squad will benefit from.

“It’s been great,” the right-back told iFollow MK Dons in an exclusive interview. “Weeks like this you can properly get into the philosophies of the new manager and what the staff are trying to bring in.

“First impressions (of Liam Manning) are that he is organised, enthusiastic and intensity – that’s been a real big thing this week. I think that fits the team and the players that we’ve got.

“All of us are buying into it and enjoying the training. He’s somebody who can bring us results which is the main thing and development as a team which is also important.”

Watson & Co will be looking to put that training-ground work into action on Saturday when they take on Accrington Stanley at Stadium MK.

This weekend’s game provides an opportunity for MK Dons to secure back-to-back home victories and start to establish Stadium MK as a fortress.

Watson said: “Every game you have to treat like it’s a cup final – I know it’s a cliché. Every team in this league is capable so we just have to apply ourselves the same way that we have been doing and focus on ourselves.

“Playing here in front of the fans has been a great experience for me - it’s the best! One of the most important things is to create an atmosphere where we can draw off others – whether it’s players or staff or the fans.

“If we can create that atmosphere, we’ll be a hard team to stop.”
