Scott Twine admits MK Dons weren’t at their best on Saturday but was pleased to see the team show the resolve needed to come away with all three points.
Goals in each half from Mo Eisa and Matt O’Riley saw the Dons beat Accrington Stanley 2-0 at Stadium MK, despite a subpar display from the side compared to their previous outings.
“It wasn’t our best display or the best game to watch or be a part of but we got the three points and that’s all that matters,” Twine said in his post-match interview with iFollow MK Dons.
“That’s a big thing for us. Everyone knows that, one our day, we can pass any team off the pitch, but when we’ve got that other side of the game it makes us a team that can win in any situation and makes us hard to play against.
“They are a lot bigger than us so we had to be aggressive and fight for the game. In the end, we were the better team and deserved the three points.”
Saturday saw MK Dons conclude the month of August in terms of league football, as they head into September with eight points to their name from their opening five matches – a decent return according to their number nine.
Twine said: I think we’ve done well. In terms of points, we probably should have more than what we do have now but we’ve played some tough games. There are tough games still to come but we’ve done well so far.”
