Gladwin out for the season while Dons wait on Harvie...

19 April 2021

Ben Gladwin will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery while MK Dons are waiting to learn the extent of Daniel Harvie’s injury.

Gladwin, who hasn’t featured since 16 March, recently underwent a minor operation and will be sidelined for the final few weeks of the 2020/21 campaign while Harvie is yet to discover how long he will be out for, due to an injury he sustained in training last week.

Speaking to the media after Saturday’s win over Portsmouth, Martin said: “It's nothing too serious but (Ben Gladwin) had to have a minor operation.

“We’ve managed him well to this point but we all had to make a decision on whether he should focus on being ready for next season or keep battling on. Ben will be back for the summer and whatever that brings for him.

“Danny Harvie was due to start (against Portsmouth) but went down injured in training on Friday. We’ll get it scanned early next week and we hope he'll be back before the end of the season, but it's sore.”

Martin added: “We had a long meeting about all the injuries we've had recently. When you look at it, the medical team have been fantastic - we've done brilliantly with the number of injuries we’ve had, all things considered, but they just seem to have all come at once and I think that’s down to fatigue”.

Gladwin and Harvie now join Louis Thompson, Cameron Jerome, Warren O’Hora and Kieran Agard on Russell Martin's injury list. There is hope that Thompson and Jerome will be back before the end of the season but they aren’t expected to make the trip to the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

In more positive news, David Kasumu is unscathed following his first start since December while Jay Bird was fit enough for a place on the bench, after five months in the treatment room due to a knee injury.
