Dean Lewington making his 800th MK Dons appearance has been named Screwfix Moment of the Season at the EFL Awards.

Lewington hit the remarkable milestone back in March, when he helped MK Dons beat Burton Albion 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Dons captain was the recipient of the Screwfix Moment of the Month award for March, and the achievement has now been recognised, above the other monthly winners, as the standout EFL moment from the entire campaign.

Speaking to the EFL after winning the Screwfix Moment of the Month award for March, Lewington said: “I’m very pleased and very proud to have won it. I was told about the other entries and they were very worth causes, so to have won it, is something I am very proud of.

“I never thought I'd get to 800 appearances, or anywhere near it in all honesty. Over the years, you pass the milestones but nobody can think much further than the next game in football so it is something that never really entered my mind.”

Lewington was one of two MK Dons players who were honoured at the EFL Awards on Thursday evening, along with LFE Apprentice of the Year for League One, Lewis Johnson.
