Russ: Work still to do in the window

Dons boss provides a transfer update....

17 September 2020

MK Dons continue to work on adding to their squad during this transfer window but boss Russell Martin isn’t ruling out the possibility of more departures.

Seven players have arrived at Stadium MK so far this term, while five out-of-contract Dons have committed their future to remain with the Football Club.

There have also been 11 players from last season who have moved on to pastures new, including two in Joe Walsh and Conor McGrandles, who will be back in Milton Keynes this weekend with their new club Lincoln City.

Four weeks remain before the transfer window closes until the New Year and Martin is still confident he will be able to add a forward before that date – with players potentially going the other way to free up space in his squad.

“We’re still hunting the striker,” Martin said in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“I know people will get bored and frustrated with my answers at the moment, but we’re working on it and there’s no real other update. There’s four weeks of the window and if it takes that long to get the right one – then so be it.”

He continued: “I do expect a couple to leave and play football elsewhere. The squad is looking full up in certain areas so it would make sense for one or two players to leave as well – ones that have not been involved as much.”
