Russell Martin says work continues on adding to his MK Dons squad in the current window, but did admit that the recent news regarding fans not returning to stadiums has had an effect on the transfer market.
The Dons boss has made no secret of his desire to add a striker to his ranks but with the Government confirming that supporters would able to return to grounds next month, Martin believes that will have an impact on every clubs’ plans to make moves before the October 15 deadline.
“The latest is that we are still working on bringing in a player,” the manager said in his pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s Sky Bet League One clash with Ipswich Town at Stadium MK.
“It was already a unique time and transfer window but I think the news on Tuesday has really altered everyone’s plans – including ours. We’ve had to reassess what we are doing as the landscape has changed a bit.
“I’ve learnt as a manager that things change really quickly. We have names in mind but we are open to something new coming up in the last few days.
“Everyone seems to hit the panic button in the last week and things get moving, but we won’t sign anyone for the sake of it. It has to be right for this football club and they need to add to us on the pitch.”
