Women climb to third in the table

12 October 2020

MK Dons Women continued their impressive start to the campaign as they overcame Gillingham 5-0 at Stadium MK.

The Dons controlled the game from start to finish and took the lead within 16-minutes after controlling the opening stages.

It was a wonderful solo goal from Chez Albert that broke the deadlock for Charlie Bill’s side. Having picked up the ball on the left-wing, Albert made her way into the area. Having made space for a shot, Albert then made her angle even better by jinxing past the final defender. The winger then produced a stunning curling effort to give the Dons the lead. 1-0.

Albert doubled her tally for the afternoon with 30-minutes on the clock, she converted from close range after good work out wide from Jade Bell. 2-0.

Two became three on 60-minutes as Hannah Barrett headed home from a Nicole Pepper corner. 3-0.

Pepper once again caused danger from a set-piece scenario just 10-minutes later - her corner was headed by Sasha Newsome. 4-0.

Albert had the chance to complete her hat-trick, however, her penalty his the underside of the bar.

Pepper completed her hat-trick of assists on 79-minutes, this time her corner found Vicky Barrett, who completed the scoring.

The win lifts MK Dons Women to third in the table, next up is a trip to Plymouth Argyle.

MK Dons XI: Samson, Newsome, Brighton, H. Barrett, Newman, Neal, Pepper, Rush, Albert, Bell, V. Barrett.
