Regan looking to progress with Dons

23 October 2020

Regan Poole is quickly approaching his 50th Appearance for MK Dons and with the landmark is on the horizon, the Defender noted his happiness playing at Stadium MK.

Poole joined from Manchester United in 2019 and since then has made 31 appearances in all competitions for MK Dons.

The Defender has become a key cog in Russell Martin’s side making an impact at both ends of the pitch says he's enjoying playing under his former teammate.

I’m enjoying the new role, it’s something different as I’ve never played there before. I’m learning every day and it’s something that I’m really enjoying. The way we are playing, the performances – how can you not enjoy it.

I want to help move this Club forward - it was the main reason I came here. The club is such a great club and it wants to go in the right direction. The way we’ve started, I don’t see why we can’t push on and really have a good go this season.

“We should be sitting higher up. That’s what I want to be a part of, I want to be at a club that isn’t happy sitting in league one, it’s one that wants to progress. It’s the goal to play as high as you can and that’s my aim with this football club.

Should Regan Poole feature this Saturday he’ll hit 100 professional appearances at just 22-years of age.

The Welshman made his professional debut for Newport County in September 2014 and has since featured for Manchester United and Northampton in his short career.

However, Poole wants more than just 100 appearances in his career and hopes he can match the success of his captain, Dean Lewington.

“It’s always nice to hit a landmark, I started playing in the Football League when I was young, for me to hit that 100 mark - it’s time for me to kick on and see how many I can get.

“Everyone remembers their first game, I was so young and it was such a shock, it was all last minute. It’s my 100th  on Saturday so I hope I can get many more – and see if I can get as many as Dean Lewington.”
