Brittain joins Barnsley

Tykes trigger release clause to sign the MK Dons defender...

10 October 2020

Callum Brittain has joined Barnsley for an undisclosed fee, after the Sky Bet Championship outfit triggered the release clause in his contract.

Brittain signed a new deal with the Club this summer which included a clause that would allow him to discuss terms with a Championship or Premier League side, should they pay MK Dons a set fee and further sums based on performance.

Barnsley met the terms of the release clause this week and Brittain has since completed his move to the Tykes.

The defender made 122 appearances for MK Dons after progressing through the Club’s Academy and making his senior debut in November 2016.

He represented England at Under-20s level during his time at Stadium MK and was named EFL’s Young Player of the Month in September 2018. He also played a key role in securing the Dons’ promotion to Sky Bet League One in 2018/19.

Everyone at the Football Club would like to thank Callum for his contribution over the past 15 years, and we wish one of our own all the very best for the future.
