Houghts: Improvements to be made

6 November 2020

Jordan Houghton was happy to see MK Dons extend their unbeaten run to three games on Tuesday night – but insists the Dons can’t rest on their laurels.

The point at the PTS Academy Stadium means the Dons have picked up five points from a possible nine in the space of a week.

Houghton and co dominated large spells of the Sky Bet League One clash with The Cobblers, however, they were unable to find a way past the stubborn Northampton defence.

The Midfielder knows that in order for the Dons to start climbing up the table, they need to take the positives from the encounter and work on the negatives heading into the next game.

“I think earlier in the season we do lose that game and that shows the resilience that we’ve picked up as we’ve learnt through the season,” Houghton told iFollow MK Dons following the full-time whistle. “There was no sloppiness no errors – we were very resilient against their style of play – which is pleasing.

“It’s that final piece to the puzzle that’s missing. You’ll see us going from a good team to a very good team if we can add that.

“We are a lot lower than we want to be, we went through a pretty sticky patch so we need to pick up the points. We’re three games unbeaten now, we need to take the positives out of that.”

Houghton added, “We’ve got a lot of improvements to make, there’s a lot of good things coming from our play. The main thing is we come away from this place, a tough place to come, the way we play a lot of people may say we are soft – you can see that we aren’t.”
