During Mental Health Awareness Week, MK Dons midfielder Jordan Houghton has stressed the importance of maintaining positive mental health during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week aims to get people talking about their mental health and reduce the stigma that can stop people from asking for help.

Speaking to ITV Anglia, Houghton discussed the ways in which he has dealt with the unprecedented situation the UK finds itself in and offered advice to those who may be struggling with their mental health at this time.

“Everyone's going to be struggling with mental health because you're stuck indoors and it’s not normal,” he said in an interview with ITV Anglia.

"You have to be innovative with things to do. You always have to try and keep your brain active and try to make the best of what's the worst situation possible.

"I've just tried learning some Spanish, which has been quite a good way to keep my brain ticking over.

“I think you've got to try and find your way of finding that stimulus away from your normal day-to-day things, which you can't do at the moment.”
